I have just spent a week in the beautiful grounds of Blenheim Palace, for the very first BBC Countryfile Live event. The long running television programme has 9 million viewers, and the live event drew crowds of tens of thousands to the Oxfordshire venue.
Cirque Bijou worked with the BBC to produce a 30 minute main arena show to take audiences through Britain's seasons and how they affect the countryside. Hosted by a farmer character, with beat boxer Grace Savage, the cast included aerialists, extreme mountain bikers dressed as a ram and ewe, Oxfordshire Young Farmers, actors, stilt walkers from The Dream Performance, BBC Countryfile presenters and a herd of sheep! The set included farm machinery, hay bales, beautiful backdrops of leaves and a cloud which produced rain over aerial acrobat Augusts' winter season straps act.
I was one of the four stilt walkers, performing choreography with the beautiful silk butterfly wings during the summer season, and with umbrellas during the winter season.
The event was a huge success, with collaboration from The National Trust.
A huge thank you to the wonderful family of Cirque Bijou, the guys at Adi.tv and Red Radish for the delicious catering.
