Starfiz Prohibition Party Entertainment

Petersham Road created one of the most decadent 18th birthday parties I've seen, at Hoxton Docks, for one very lucky teenager!

The former industrial space was transformed into a 1920s speakeasy, with guests slipping through secret curtains to enter into a forbidden world of jazz bands, cocktails, gambling and dancing.

As the guests stepped into the grounds of the warehouses, behind Kingsland Road, Leyla and myself performed ambient aerial hoop as glamorous circus performers, rigged on the outside of the building, from a beam originally used for hoisting goods. We alternated between performing solo hoop sets and extracts of our Starfiz Duo Hoop act, enjoying performing outdoors on a sunny evening!

With the jazz band playing, our next act was a freestyle silks set in aviation hats and goggles, as pilot characters.

Makeup was by Lottie Day, and I loved the doll-like look which I shall be re-creating the next time I have the chance! Lottie also introduced me to the silky matt finish which my skin loves when Benefit's Pore Professional is used instead of foundation. I have sensitive skin and usually wear Jane Iredale powder for shows, but when wearing hot costumes such as thick sheepskin jackets the powder doesn't stop a shiny face. The primer did!

Other entertainment included actors, a burlesque dancer in a birthday cake and a lady with snakes.

Starfiz can't wait to work with Anna, Theo and the Petersham team again soon!
